Investment Management

One of the most important parts of any investment strategy is understanding what that strategy is aiming to achieve. By having a thorough understanding of your circumstances, priorities, ambitions and concerns, we can put together an investment strategy which we believe is right for you.

Investing inherently comes with a degree of risk. We will discuss the mechanisms of investing in detail with you to determine your appetite for risk and well as how much risk you can afford to take in terms of your overall financial position. Our aim is to provide your money with the potential for long term performance, offering you both security and prosperity, while limiting the risks to an acceptable level.

You may have a specific investment goal in mind, whether that be a growth target or income requirement, and our analysis will produce a plan with you to achieve this, taking into account your wider financial position.

In putting together a strategy that works for you we will take account of important factors such as your time horizon for the investment, any investment restrictions or Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) preferences, whether income is required and how regularly, as well as your individual tax position. By having a thorough understanding of your preferences and circumstances, we will then put in place an investment strategy which takes advantage of government reliefs and allowances, bringing tax efficiencies for you while giving your money the potential for growth.

At Anderson Strathern Asset Management, we have an in-house discretionary fund management service and offer a range of model portfolios. However as an independent firm, we are not tied to our own investment department and our financial planners are able to refer you to our external investment management panel should we feel that this way of managing your assets is most suited to you and your requirements.

Your circumstances may suggest that a specialist investment service is required for tax efficiency and we work closely with a range of partners to offer our clients access to investment products such as Enterprise Investment Schemes (EIS), Venture Capital Trusts (VCT), inheritance tax mitigating products and access to the Alternative Investment Market (AIM). If our financial planners believe these may be appropriate for you, they will spend time discussing with you the risks associated with these products versus the tax savings they could offer you.

Remember that investing comes with risk but by putting in place a strategy which has been discussed and agreed with you, we will give you all the information you need to make sure you feel comfortable with the balance being struck between risk and potential reward.
